Summary Report from North Lanarkshire Council's Annual Tenants Conference 2010: Building for Our Future

Nominations are now being sought for the 3rd Francis Nelson MBE Award.

This year there are two categories. The first is for a loca tenants' or tenants' and residents' organisation; and the second is for an umbrella organisation such as a Federation.

You can download all the information you need from the TIS website at www.tis.org.uk or you can telephone the Glasgow office on (0141) 248 1242 to have it sent out to you.

The closing date for entries is Friday 29th April 2011 at 12 noon.

WE WANT YOUR GROUP PHOTOGRAPHS

The Federation Committee are thinking well ahead for our annual report which we want to make very visually appealing and well grounded in the activities of local affiliated groups.

We would welcome any tenants and residents group related photographs. We might even be able to make good use of some poorer quality photos.

You can send them to the Federation Offices marked for the attention of - Mr Lindsay Cook and Ms Elaine McCondochie. Alternatively, you can e-mail them in to the office at NLenquiries@tis.org.uk. It would be helpful if a short written description accompanied your photographs.

UKHA . Inside Housing 10.

The North Lanarkhire Federation, in conjunction with North Lanarkshire Council , recently were finalists for an Outstanding Achievement in Housing Scotland Award. Although, they did not win, they were recognised and commended for the "Open to Change" dvd and the highly reccommended "Food for Thought " programme.

Negotiating SkillsTraining - FREE

The Tenants and Residents Participation project proposes to hold more training sessions on the fundamentals of Negotiating.

All sessions will be held at the Project Offices, Room 66, Fountain Business Centre, Ellis Street, Coatbridge. ML4 3AA

Session 1 - (1st Part) - will take place on Thursday 31st March 2011 - 7pm to 9pm

Session 1 - (2nd Part) - will take place on Thursday 7th April 2011 - 7pm to 9pm

Session 2 - will take place on Saturday 2nd April 2011 - 9.30am to 1pm

Federation Office Open Day Cancellation

Unfortunately our Open Day on Wednesday 8th December 2010 had to be cancelled due to the bad weather. The Executive Committee are going to try and reschedule this event.

In the meantime the offices can be visited on an individual / small group basis providing you phone up first. The resources and friendly staff are sure to be of assistance to you and your tenants & residents group.
